Psalms 19:7-11

"Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward." The word of God is like gold to those who know its value. Gold is valuable and is kept safely. The word of God is enduring and eternal truth. Those who know its value seek to possess it. In this world, the country with the greatest amount of gold is the most powerful country. The only standard accepted by the whole world is "the gold standard". In the kingdom of God the transactions between heaven and earth depend on the "gold balance" that you have, i.e. how much of the word of God you have accepted and obeyed. On this depends your ability to help others and power you have to transform the world. Verse 11. By studying the Word we are warned. Those who do not study the Word cannot pray effectively. By the word of God our heart is brought into the right condition to pray effectively. Psalm 138:2, "…thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name." God gives His Word a more exalted place than His name. The stability of a Christian in the kingdom of God depends on his sound knowledge and obedience to the word of God. David praised God seven times a day for His righteous word. Psalm 119:165, "Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them." The meaning is that they will not stumble. Your prayer becomes more and more effective according as you are charged with the word of God. As prayer proceeds from a heart that is purified by the Word, it will become effective. If you do not meditate of the Word, the quality of your prayer goes down. The quality of your prayer depends on the knowledge of the Word and the obedience to the Word.

John 14:19-21. When there are two friends the material transactions between them depend on the love between them. Our love towards God is expressed by our obedience to His Word. Your usefulness depends on your God-consciousness. Your God-consciousness depends on your love towards God. You love towards God is again expressed only by your obedience. If you get used to disobedience, your prayer will become twisted and become harmful to you. We will not know what to ask of God, and will be asking things harmful to us. John 15:7, "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you." The Word has no place in us when we disobey God. "If ye abide in me – if your thoughts are always charged with Me, then ask what you will." What a wonderful person you will become when His Word abides in you. You will become God-charged. Your personality is your thought-content. When your thoughts are full of God’s thoughts you are a rich person. "More to be desired are they than gold…sweeter than honey…by keeping of them is great reward." 1 John 5:14 & 15, "And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us: and if we know that he hears us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him." These teachings are all on a higher plane. When can we ask according to His will? When we are filled with His thoughts. Jesus says, "When you ask anything, believing, you have received it. "When we preserve the word of God in the heart, the prayer that comes out of it will be in the will of God. Then we can pray with great confidence. John 11:41, "Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me." Look at the confidence in this prayer! All blessings are hidden in, "Receiving and obeying the Word." There is no use asking God, "Bless me, bless me." It is like a little child asking its father for gold. It does not know how to preserve it or use it. Many of our prayers have no meaning. The devil trembles when we obey the Word. Jesus said He always did things that pleased the Father. Children of God esteem the word of God more than gold. "In keeping of them there is great reward." We must be saturated with the word of God. The devil flees from the home when there is an atmosphere of the word of God. Once St. Francis saw a host of devils near the house he and his disciples were residing in. But they could not come in. But when two brothers in the group began to quarrel and hate each other, then the devils came inside. The devil cannot enter into atmosphere of love. If you want to live for the glory of God and be effective, you must obey the word of God. "More to be desired are they than gold yea than much fine gold." A man in the will of God will see all his hearts desires fulfilled without any effort on his part. Heaven works out all your desires even if you don’t ask for them. When filled with the word of God, your desires will be of the highest kind and they will be fulfilled. God will be happy because you are one with Him and you will be glad because He is one with you.
